CEESA Swimming. Or the Screaming Chorus

March6

Ceesa was an absolute blast. We had a lot of fun going on the plane and meeting new friends from other schools. I’m excluding the swimming part on purpose. Our trip would go from Thursday to Sunday, the days we would swim on was Friday to Saturday. I remember waking up early on the first day of Ceesa just to anticipate the stomach aches I would have to go through for all of my events to come. The uncertainty in my mind plagued me as a walked to the first checkpoint to get myself ready for my first event. I suck at mentally preparing myself before anything to do with swim competitions. I look as if I’ve been having the same seizure for over 3 months except it’s just me heavily breathing, hyperventilating and stretching my arms and legs to oblivion just to get myself ready for the sprint. All I thought in my mind was ‘just get it finished, it’s not that hard, stop looking like a dying fish out of water’. As I walked up to the diving board with all of the competitors, I thought about how many strokes I did, when I should breathe, how my flip-turn should look like. As I dived in I though about my teammates as they were screaming their butts off to cheer me on. I go even faster, the strokes I make increase, my kicks become more rapid as I sprint to finish this sprint. Relief fills me as I get one event done. Just 8 more to go.

Our team is composed of multiple people that have very loud voices. I, in particular have an extremely loud voice and I do remember having my friends telling me to shut up when I am cheering on volleyball or soccer. So when I scream to cheer on my teammate that is currently swimming, I cause a chain reaction to my other teammates that are also cheering them on. So basically the whole audience can only hear our team during the whole event. We sometimes cheer on our teammates by certain names or phrases such as: Big Mac, We love you Rayane!, MATEOOOOOO, TISA Meerkats and many more very bizarre names that don’t even make sense. Afterwards, during the award ceremony we had karaoke and just sung a bunch of old classics that we all loved masking the other teams in the process. I am pretty sure by that time all of the teams were sick of us and regretting they even invited us in the first place.

I love how you made it very detailed and I also like that you included one of the photos of the team on the trip.

We were the best and most obnoxious team there for sure.
