My Skiing Progression – Draft

I first went skiing when I was 5 years old. I went up to the local ski resort and I had never seen skis before. I was so excited but at the same time, I was nervous because I thought that I was going to die. By the time I was 6, I could ski on every slope there and I was confident enough that I would not fall. That ski season was also the first time that I landed a 180 of a jump.

When I turned 7 I started to ski park and I learned how to ride rails and jumps. That was the most progressive ski season and it was also the first time that I stopped having lessons which I was very proud of. It was also the first year that I learnt how to carve, However, I could not do it that well.

I turned eight and I got my first pair of skis and it was also the year that I performed the best in competitions I won the slalom competition held at the ski resort and also I scored the highest out of my friends in the freeskiing competition and park. I had lots of improvement to make and I was getting into groups with kids in their 12’s.

I turned nine and this was the year that I did not ski that much because I fractured my wrist and also I twisted my ankle so this season I only went skiing one time. I was sad then because it was going to be the last time I would ski with my friend because he was moving.

I turned 10 and this was the first year that the ski team was open. I joined and went with one of my close friends Owen. We skid together and had a great time it was both of our first time skiing without our families there. It was also the year that I was first able to carve with my elbows touching the snow.

The year I turned 11 I was so much better at skiing than I ever was and I started to build jumps and it was also the year I earned a 360 grab. This is where you jump in the air grab your skis and do a 360.

Now I am 12 years old competing in various competitions and an advanced skier. I have also learnt to snowboard this year, however, I am not as good at it. I am mainly a freestyle skier and I like to ski off-piste from time to time. I have joined the ski team again and I was one of the coaches for the jumping lessons. I the end my skiing career so far has been amazing and I hope I can keep doing the sport that I love.
